Greetings all...
Here are some items for your consideration:
First of all, remember LtC Evan Zandenberg, Group 1 CC, in prayer. He is being treated for bone cancer. There is a blood drive taking place to
replenish the supply that he needed this past week. If you have O+ you can donate directly to his name. Contact me for more info. Continue to
remember Chaplain (LtC) Sammy Campos in prayer as well as he is undergoing dialysis treatments. Chaplain (LtC) Dan Dyer and Wing Secretary Sue
Lundstrom visited with him yesterday. He appreciates our thoughts and prayers.
Registration for both Wing and Chaplains Conferences are a bit slow at the moment. Please don't wait until the last moment to get your registration
in. I have attached registration forms for your convenience.
A new regulation has been issued for Emergency Services (60-3). National wants everyone to renew their ES cards after taking an on-line course by
November. There is an online test (open book). You can take a general ES test or a combined ES/ICS (Incident Command System) test. ICS is required
if you wish to have a Mission Chaplain rating in ES. Several of you completed CISM training which is also needed for that rating -- so you are
on your way for this ES rating. BTW -- just took the test myself a few ago, passed it, and printed out certificate (#5674). You can order the ICS
materials (free)through FEMA: http://www.fema.gov/emi/is195.htm A person who enrolls in this course has a year to complete (can be done earlier -- I
received my material 3 weeks ago and will send FEMA my test sometime next week).
Congratulations to Chaplain (Major) William Garrett for completing the requirements for and receiving the Grover Loening Award (Level III).
Along those lines, Chaplain (Major) Jack Nahrstadt will be presenting a workshop on the steps to attaining the various awards at the Chaplains
Conference in Santa Maria. Checklists and other aids will be distributed. Major Patricia "Pat" Okawa will be sharing about how paperwork is to be
completed properly.
The schedule for the chaplains part of the conference is firming up:
Friday, September 7 - 2:00-5:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 8 - morning session for Chaplains/MLOs - 2 hours after session for MLOs (emphasis on
recruiting/applications) - 1 hour
Looking forward to our time together in Santa Maria.
Please don't hesitate to contact myself or any member of the Chaplain's Staff for assistance, we are here to help or check out the CAWG Chaplaincy
Web-site: www.cawg-chaplain.org for resources.
In Service Together,
Paul
